Local Penrith charity, Paying it Forward – Homeless Services Inc, is holding an Open Day on Sunday 6th August, 2017 at Jamison Park to celebrate Homelessness Week 2017. This event is to bring about more awareness of homelessness in Australia and indeed our local area. The general public will be invited to attend this open day from 3pm to 5pm where they can engage with volunteers, staff and ex-patrons from the PIF organisation and find out what issues our local homeless patrons face on a daily basis and how the community can get involved to help.
Visitors to this event will be shown how this organisation runs it meal service, the support given to patrons, how local services are working together and receive a better understanding about all the issues surrounding homelessness through a range of hands on interactive displays.
Mayor John Thain and local member Emma Husar will be in attendance and will both be addressing guests to the event. Other local homeless charity organisations will also be attending with their own interactive displays and information. Some of the other charities involved are the One Voice Shower Bus, Share the Dignity, Rotary and Blessed Be Bags. This is a community event addressing local issues and it is hoped that local media outlets will support this event being held next Sunday.
