Australia’s most treasured plant fair will run during the weekend of April 7-8, 2018 at the Hawkesbury Race Club. This year the fair will be bigger than ever with over 80 specialist growers from all across Australia. Long lost plants will be found and taken home to create beautiful gardens and indoor jungles.
There will be thousands of plants, pickles, pots, books, quality garden workwear and delicious food.
For one weekend in April, the plant lovers of Sydney descend on the Hawkesbury Race Club to buy rare and unusual plants from over 80 specialist nurseries coming from all over Australia. On sale is the biggest range of plant material anywhere in the country. The fair is 13 this year and has come a long way since its inception in 2005.
Fair founder Peta Trehar launched the first Collectors’ Plant Fair on the grounds of her property in Bilpin. It quickly outgrew those humble beginnings and for the past few years the event has been held at the Hawkesbury Race Club, allowing more specialist nurseries to show their wares, and more gardeners to find them.
In 2016 the Fair said a fond farewell to its founders Peta and Peter Trahar, and Beth Stokes. After a decade building the Fair, the trio passed its future to plant lovers, Linda Ross and Dan Wheatley, who are determined to uphold its integrity, passion and generous spirit, and enable it to continue as Australia’s treasured garden event.
