Historical Society Museum Open Day

The Nepean District Historical Society will host its Annual Historical Festival and Open Day on Sunday October 26. at the Arms of Australia Inn Museum, located at the corner of the Great Western Highway and Gardenia Avenue, Emu Plains, NSW.

The event will run from 9am to 3pm, and admission is free.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of special displays both within the Inn and throughout the grounds. Highlights include appearances by the NSW Corps of Marines, who will be joined by members of a Light Horse Regiment from Windsor to maintain law and order. Their demonstrations will feature drills, re-enactments, and even floggings of miscreants, offering a glimpse into the life and times of the early colony.

As in previous years, the festival will offer activities for all ages, including:

  • An animal farm and pony rides
  • An old-fashioned school room with slate writing
  • Displays from the Antique & Classic Car Club and the Lions Pride Holden Car Club
  • Stalls featuring bonsai, wood turning, pioneer timber cutting, and more.
  • Community groups such as the Friends of Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest, Nepean District Historical Archaeological Group, and Penrith Library will also be present.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Live entertainment will be provided by the Tall Timbre Country and Western Band, adding to the festive atmosphere.
