RFS Get Ready Weekend

As the bush fire season approaches, now is the time to understand your bush fire risk and take simple steps to prepare your home, property and family. To help you get ready, the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) will host Get Ready Weekend events at RFS stations across NSW this weekend (Sept 19 and 20), providing free information, practical advice and resources to help you prepare before the fire season begins.

With hundreds of events taking place across NSW, Get Ready Weekend is your opportunity to get practical advice from your local RFS brigade, ask questions about your property’s bush fire risk and learn simple actions that could make a real difference this fire season.

Every event is different, but many include demonstrations, displays, family-friendly activities, practical advice from volunteers and resources to help you prepare for the bush fire season. You can also learn how to create a Bush Fire Survival Plan, prepare your home and property, understand the Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS), and discover the steps you can take to be better prepared.
