NDIS self-management workshop: Springwood
February 27 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm$30 – $50
Resourcing Inclusive Communities, an Initiative of Family Advocacy NSW is coming to Springwood to run a one-day workshop covering the key components of self-managing an NDIS package. The workshop will be delivered by people who have over 10 years’ experience in self-managing on behalf of their family member with disability.
The workshop is for people with disability and families who want authentic choice and control, and current self-managers who need more information on the “nuts and bolts” of self-management. It will run on Thursday 27 February, 9.00am – 3.30pm at the Springwood Sports Club, 83 Macquarie Rd. The cost is $30 for people with disability and families, and $50 for professionals, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
For many years, disability programs and support arrangements have been determined by Disability Service Providers. The NDIS have a goal of increasing the number of people who are self-managing their funds, as self-managing gives much more control and flexibility, and provides more options, particularly to people living outside the large metropolitan areas. This truly individualised approach enables the person with disability to be at the centre of planning and designing their supports, that can lead to much better outcomes for the participant.
Family Advocacy NSW is a statewide not for profit advocacy organisation concerned with the interests and rights of people who have a developmental disability. Its aim is to achieve positive social roles for people with disability through the development of advocacy by families and by strengthening the knowledge, role and influence of the family.
