Elvis Presley Lives on in Upcoming Biopic

42 years after the King of Rock N Roll’s death, his life story will be told in a biopic written by Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8, 1935, and died August 16, 1977. Since his career began in the mid-fifties, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. Sales in America alone have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards for 131 different albums and singles. It is estimated that 40% of his total records sales have come from outside of the USA. He also featured in over 30 films – Of which we all have our favourites.

He will return to the screen again, this time portrayed by 27 year old actor and singer Austin Butler, in a biopic that will be released in late 2020 or early 2021. The film explores Elvis Presley’s life through the lens of his complicated, 20-year relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, who will be played by Tom Hanks.

Production is to begin in early 2020, and most exciting of all, filming will take place in Queensland, Australia!
