Roads and Maritime Services is continuing work on The Northern Road between Littlefields Road, Luddenham and Glenmore Parkway, Glenmore Park. As part of this work, there is a need to temporarily close The Northern Road between Glenmore Parkway and Elizabeth Drive to urgently and safely install a new water main.
This work will be carried out continuously from 8pm Friday 23 August 2019 through until 4am Monday 26 August 2019, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime Services will temporarily close The Northern Road to install the new watermain. The Northern Road will be closed between Glenmore Parkway and Elizabeth Drive at the times specified above, weather permitting.
How will the work affect you?
The work will involve using heavy machinery to trench across the full width of The Northern Road. This will include excavators and rock breaking equipment, road sawing equipment, trucks and lighting towers.
You may experience some noise and RMS will make every effort to minimise impacts by:
– Turning off equipment and vehicles when not in use
– Using non-tonal reversing beepers on machinery
– Using lighting towers only when necessary
– Directing noise generating equipment away from resident properties where possible
– Adapting our construction methods to reduce noise impact.
Traffic changes
The Northern Road will be closed temporarily for the duration of the work. Detours will be in place via the M4 Motorway, Mulgoa Road and Park Road. A secondary detour route is via Mamre Road and Elizabeth Drive. Local resident and emergency service vehicle access will be maintained, however please allow extra travel time especially during the peak traffic times of Saturday 9am to 2pm and Sunday 9am to 2pm. Electronic message signs will be in place to direct road users through these changes.
