Castlereagh Rd Closure September 6th – 9th

Road Castlereagh

Full weekend closure of Castlereagh Road between Jane Street and Thornton Drive

There will be a full closure of Castlereagh Road between Jane Street and Thornton Drive from 10pm Friday 6th September to 5am Monday 9th September 2019. Access to Museum Drive from Castlereagh Road will be
available throughout the closure with a secondary access to the Museum of Fire offered via Combewood Avenue.

Trains on the Blue Mountains Line will also be affected, as trackwork will be carried out simultaneously. Check your relevant transport site or app for information.

Traffic will be diverted to The Northern Road via Andrews Road on the northern side and Jane Street on the southern side of the railway line. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes. The busiest traffic is expected on Saturday 7 September from 10am to 3pm.

This full closure enables important tasks for the new rail bridge to be completed in line with a planned rail closure at the same time and your understanding is appreciated while this important work is carried out.

The work will include the following activities:
• Truck movements for delivery of equipment and materials including bridge sections
• Earthwork, stormwater drainage and concreting
• Piling work for bridge structures
• Investigation and relocation of utilities
• Road median removal including saw cutting and jackhammering
• Vegetation removal
• Pavement construction
• Traffic management implementation including signage, line marking and barrier installation.

Bridge construction, earthwork and utilities relocation will continue from Sunday 1 September to Thursday 31 October on High Street, Jane Street, Castlereagh Road and Mulgoa Road between Rodley Avenue and Museum Drive.

How will the work affect you?
A full closure of Castlereagh Road between Jane Street and Thornton Drive will take place day and night from 10pm Friday 6th September to 5am Monday 9th September 2019. There is also a rail closure this weekend for the work to occur, call 131500 or check Upcoming Trackwork on the Transportnsw.info website to find out about changes to train timetables and alternative bussing requirements.

At other times, temporary traffic lane closures will be in place periodically between 8.30pm to 5am Mondays to Sundays and on Saturdays 8am to 1pm to support potholing, piling, concreting and utility investigations and adjustments. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions.

Work may be noisy from piling machines, concrete saws, and earthwork machinery. Measures are in place to minimise impacts including the completion of noisier tasks by 10pm.

Please follow direction of traffic controllers, speed and detour signs. For the latest traffic updates call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com.au or download the Live Traffic App.

During temporary lane closures traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h may be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
