Rossco’s Cafe De Wheels

As Ross Hutchison pulled back the paper covering his photo on the Harry’s Cafe De Wheels van he asked “Who’s that?”
His granddaughter, who assisted him in lifting the covering off, exclaimed “Pa!”

On Friday 26th April, Vintage FM were ‘Live on Location’ playing The Music You Grew Up With outside Harry’s Cafe De Wheels in Penrith before the Panthers VS Rabbitohs game. Just after 4:30pm, in front of an excited crowd, Rossco’s photo was unveiled as the newest addition to the famous Harry’s Cafe De Wheels wall.

“It was a great surprise and feel good event. Especially having one’s photo on such an internationally famous restaurant.

I’m further humbled and exhilarated by the number of people ringing me to tell me, ‘Hey, did you know your photo’s up at Harry’s?’ Go Penrith!” Rossco said.

Photos of celebrities and personalities enjoying their pies have become a trademark of Harry’s Cafe De Wheels since the business began in the 1930s.

Famous faces such as Jerry lewis, Dion Dimucci, Cold Chisel, James Morrison, Olivia Newton-John and Elton John have all had their photos taken outside one of the ten Harry’s Cafe De Wheels vans in NSW. Elton John even held a press conference from inside Harry’s during the 70’s!

Now locals visiting the Harry’s Cafe De Wheels van outside Panthers Penrith can see the familiar face of Ross Hutchison enjoying the signature Harry’s pie – a Tiger Pie – as they’re viewing the menu!

As well as the photo unveiling, The Vintage FM team gave away T-Shirts, vouchers for pies and lucky listeners Daryle O’Connor & James Whelan even scored themselves a family package for iFly Penrith!
