The M4 Motorway will be closed in both directions at the Northern Road, South Penrith over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend from 9pm on Friday 7 June to 4am on Tuesday 11 June (weather permitting).
As the new bridge has opened to traffic, the old bridge must now be removed. This will happen during the closure across the long weekend. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time if you need to be in the area. Diversions and detours will be in place during the closure.
Vehicles will still be able to enter and exit the M4 Motorway in both directions at the Northern Road during the closure. However, motorists are advised to avoid the area for non-essential activities. Electronic message signs will be updated during the closure based on traffic conditions to direct motorists to the best available detour routes.
