Last night, Ross Hutchison went to sleep on just another ordinary Saturday. Little did he know, his name would bear the weight of three new special letters just hours later.
In an announcement made by the Governor-General and the Chancellor of the Order of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC, Rossco was named as one of 549 Order of Australia Medal recipients for his service to the community on the 2020 Australia Day Honours List.
The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) is awarded for service worthy of particular recognition to Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement.
It is awarded to recognise, celebrate and say thank you to those who make a difference, those who achieve their best and those who serve others. These three statements could not be more fitting to a person than they are Ross Hutchison.
Ross has been a key part of the Vintage FM team since its inception in 2009 and as most people will know, he often speaks during his Morning program about people, places and things that he’s supporting. When he’s finished in the studio he’s usually out and about running the Ross Hutchison Foundation, attending Rotary Meetings, Lions Club Meetings, Hanging out at the Club Paceway Markets or Harness Racing on Trot night, attending new shows at the Henry Lawson Theatre, and the list goes on and on. The main point is that Ross is ALWAYS out there doing something good for the community, supporting and helping however he can.
The whole team at Vintage FM would like to congratulate Ross on this fantastic achievement that is so well deserved, and we look forward to addressing him as the fantastic Ross Hutchison ‘Rossco’ (OAM) from now on!
