NSW COVID-19 Restrictions Update: July 1

Restrictions

By now you might be a bit confused – like most of us – with which restrictions are still in place in NSW and what changes are coming into effect as we move forward in the Prime Minister’s 3-step plan.

Here’s what is changing in NSW as of July 1

General

  • The 50 person capacity limit on indoor venues will be scrapped (this includes function centres) so long as people are seated. This is to be replaced by the four square metre per person rule.
  • Household visitors and outside gatherings will remain capped at 20 people.

Funerals

  • Restrictions on indoor and outdoor funerals relaxed to allow one-person per four square metres.

Sport

  • Children’s and adult community sport to resume

Public Transport

Passenger limits on public transport will increase:

  • Up to 68 people per train carriage
  • Up to 23 passengers on busses
  • Up to 250 passengers on Ferries

Green dots will continue to be used to identify places to sit or stand on public transport.

Large Outdoor Venues

  • Venues with a maximum capacity of 40,000 people will be permitted to host up to 25 per cent of patrons for cultural and sporting events, which must be ticketed and seated only.

Continued social distancing and good hand hygiene is still expected amongst everyone in the community.
