Penrith customers: Want to earn up to $200 and save energy?
Endeavour Energy is searching for 500 residents in the Penrith region interested in reducing their power bills by using electricity more effectively and efficiently.
“With many people still working from home due to COVID-19, signing up to take part in this program is a great way to save money on your power bill, help reduce overloading on the network at peak times and earn gift cards valued up to $200,” said Leanne Pickering, GM Strategy and Insights for Endeavour Energy.
“PeakSaver participants will be rewarded for volunteering to reduce their energy consumption on what we call event days during times when demand is high, usually between 1pm and 8pm, excluding weekends and public holidays,” she said.
“Endeavour Energy will select up to 15 of these event days in total across this winter and next summer.”
To be eligible, customers must have a smart meter installed and live in Glenmore Park, Jamisontown, Kingswood, Penrith and South Penrith.
“Customers without smart meters living in those suburbs can take part in another PowerSavers program, called CommunitySaver, which allows them to still save money on their electricity bills and earn up to $60 in rewards by voluntarily taking energy challenges that don’t require a smart meter.
Ms Pickering encouraged eligible customers to take part in the programs to register online at app.endeavourenergy.com.au/peak or download the PowerSavers app to sign up.
“The programs aim to reduce the amount of electricity generated from large power stations during peak demand, such as on days of extreme temperatures, when large numbers of households and businesses use high energy appliances at the same time,” she said.
“Peak demand only happens on a few days a year, meaning the extra infrastructure required to respond to it is unused the rest of the time.
So rather than building and maintaining expensive equipment that’s not needed often, we’re working on new approaches to reduce demand for electricity during peak periods.
We’d like customers to work with us to design better ways of working that keep costs down for customers.”
